Frequently Asked Questions

1) Who is the "mother" in the Mother Lode Lodge?
In this instance, our "mother" is not a person but a thing. "Mother lode" is a term associated with mining gold. It has been used to describe large, productive veins of gold. In California it is also used to describe a geographical area so-named because of the gold found and mined during the goldrush that began in 1849.  Mariposa shares in that history and is the southernmost town of the geographical area that is known as the Mother Lode region.
2) How far are you from Yosemite National Park?
We are located 32 miles from the entrance of the national park. Due to the fact that you will be traveling in the mountains most find that it will typically take about 45 minutes to drive there.
3) Where is Mariposa in relation to Yosemite?
Mariposa is the largest town closest to the park at the Highway 140 entrance.
4) Where in Mariposa are you located?
We sit in the center of the town of Mariposa. For more information please click on the "Our Location" link on the upper left side of this page.
5) How do I make a reservation?
There are several ways to make reservations. You can do so online at this website, by email with a major credit (see the "Contact Us" link on this page) or by calling our reservations desk at 1 800 398-9770.
6) Do you have a pool?
We have the largest pool in town.
7)  Is there tax and what is the rate?
Yes, there is a County room tax and in Mariposa County the rate is 13%.  Our room rates do not include the tax which is calculated and added on to your total at check-in.
